Robert Deng, Singapore
Management University
Biography:
Robert H. Deng received his Bachelor from National University of
Defense Technology, China, his MSc and PhD from the Illinois
Institute of Technology, USA. He has been at the Singapore
Management University since 2004, and is currently Professor,
Associate Dean for Faculty & Research, and Director of SIS Research
Center, School of Information Systems. Prior to this, he was
Principal Scientist and Manager of Infocomm Security Department,
Institute for Infocomm Research. He has 26 patents and more than 150
technical publications in international conferences and journals in
the areas of computer networks, network security and information
security. He has served as general chair, program committee chair
and member of numerous international conferences, including the
co-chair of the program committee of the 2007 ACM Symposium on
Information, Computer and Communications Security. He received the
University Outstanding Researcher Award from the National University
of Singapore in 1999 and the Lee Kuan Yew Fellow for Research
Excellence from the Singapore Management University in 2006.
Prof Sihan
Qing, Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences
Biography:
Prof. Sihan Qing is a chief scientist in Institute of Software,
Chinese Academy of Sciences. He also serves as the Chair of
Department of Information Security in Peking University. He has
provided many professional services such as Vice Director of
Information Security Committee of China Computer Federation, member
of the expert working group on the network banking development and
supervision of Peoples Bank of China, member of expert committee of
the National Standardization Committee of Information Security,
chair of the workgroup of Trusted Computing of China, member of
steering committee of ASIACRYPT, etc.. He has served as PC Chair for
many international conferences of information security. He is the
author of eight books and more than 100 scientific papers.
Dr Wenbo Mao, EMC
Biography: Dr. Wenbo Mao obtained a BSc in
mathematics from Fudan University in Shanghai, China (1982), an MSc
in computer science from Beihang University in Beijing, China
(1987), and a PhD in computer science from Strathclyde University in
Glasgow, Scotland (1992). From 1992-1994, Wenbo Mao held a
post-doctoral research position in Manchester University in
Manchester, UK.
In 1994, Wenbo Mao joined Hewlett-Packard Laboratories at Bristol, UK, and from 2005-2007 he helped found the organization's Beijing research lab. In HP, he held the positions of Senior Member of Technical Staff (since 1996), and Principal Engineer, Technical Lead (since 2000). In HP, Wenbo led HP's participation in several international projects, including: Secure Electronic Transactions (SET) of VISA-MasterCard, European Union Project CASENET for formal analysis of E-commerce systems, and co-chaired Global Grid Forum Project Trusted Computing for Grid Security.
In May 2007, Wenbo Mao joined EMC as Director and Chief Engineer of EMC Research China (ERC) in Beijing. ERC is a core industry research laboratory in EMC's newly created global technological collaborative organization: Innovation Network.
Wenbo Mao has served the international research community in various roles including chairing, organizing and directing conferences, standards groups, research forums and summer schools. Dr. Mao has also held honorary and adjunct professorship positions in several universities including Fudan University, Queensland University of Technology, Bristol University and Beijing University of Science and Technology.
Graeme Proudler (HP): TCG Technology Basics
Biography:
Graeme Proudler is a researcher at Hewlett Packard Laboratories and
the Chair of the Trusted Computing Group's Technical Committee. He
was the technical lead of the HP-Labs' research group that
contributed to Trusted Computing Platform Alliance specifications, a
founder member of the TCPA Technical Committee, and original editor
of the TCPA main specification. Graeme read Physics at Wadham
College, Oxford. After graduation, he designed
communication-security equipment. Since joining HP Laboratories, he
has worked on information security, networking and mobile
communications. His current interests are trust and information
security in computer platforms and networks.
Tuomas Aura (Microsoft):

Biography:
Tuomas Aura received his
doctoral degree from Helsinki University of Technology (TKK),
Finland, in 2000. His thesis was on authorization and availability
in open networks. Since then, he has been working on software and
network security at Microsoft Research in Cambridge, UK. His current
focus is on the security of Internet mobility protocols and privacy
of mobile users.
Dirk Kuhlmann: Open TC: Open
Standard, Virtualization of OS
Biography: Dirk
Kuhlmann is the technical director of the EC funded OpenTC project.
His current research focuses on the potential of Open Source
software for IT security, and he has been actively involved in the
international discussion on Trusted Platform technology.
He joined HP after receiving his diploma in Computer Sciences from
the Technical University Berlin. During the last eleven
years, he has been working as a research engineer in the Trusted
Systems group of HP Laboratories in Bristol. His work areas
included public key infrastructures, security protocols, platform
and system security.
Vijay Varadharajan,
Macquarie University, Australia
Biography:
Prof. Vijay
Varadharajan is Professor of Computing and Microsoft Chair at
Macquarie University since 2001. He is also the Director of
Information and Networked System Security Research. Previous to
this, he was the Foundation Chair and Head of School of Computing
and IT at the University of W.Sydney, Australia (1995-2000). Prior
to this, was head of Security Research at Hewlett-Packard Labs UK
(1988-1995). Before this, he was Research Manager at British Telecom
Research Labs. U.K. (1986-1988). Previous to this he has held
academic appointments in the UK (Lecturer at Reading University,
Research Fellow at Plymouth University). He did his Ph.D in Computer
and Communication Security in the U.K in 1984, which was sponsored
by British Telecom Research Labs. He did his Electronic Engineering
Hons Degree from Sussex University, UK (1978-1981).
Professor Varadharajan has been working in the area of security over 20 years in various aspects including network security, operating system security, distributed system security, application security, mobile computing security, security models and architectures, security policies, formal specification and cryptography. He has published more than 250 papers in International Journals and Conferences and has co-authored and edited 8 books on Security, Networks and Distributed Systems. His research work over the years has contributed to the development of several secure commercial systems.
He has also acted as an Expert for European Union and worked with the UK Dept. of Trade and Industry, and has worked several European Research Projects. He is on Editorial Board of several journals including International Journal of Information Security, Springer-Verlag and ACM Transactions on Information Systems Security. He has been a member of the Board of Advisors in Trusted Computing Platform Association (TCPA) and is on the Microsoft Trustworthy Computing Academic Advisory Board (TCAAB). He has held several invited Visiting Professorships including INRIA Research Labs (France), British Telecom Labs (UK), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Mathematical Sciences (NUS, Singapore), Indian Institute of Sciences as well as Visiting Scientist at Microsoft Research Cambridge, UK. He is a Fellow of several professional institutions IEE, BCS, ACS, IMA and IEAust.
Seiji Munetoh, IBM Research
Biography:
Seiji Munetoh is the advisory
researcher of IBM Tokyo Research Laboratory. He joined IBM after
receiving his Bachelor and MSs in Electronic Engineering from Tohoku
University, Japan. His research interests include operating
system and security, modeling, analysis and testing.
Prof Ahmad-Reza Sadeghi, University of Bochrum
Biography:
Ahmad-Reza Sadeghi is the head of the Chair for System Security at
Horst Görtz Institute for IT Security at Ruhr-University Bochum,
Germany. He has received his MSc in Mechanical and Electrical
Engineering and his PhD in Computer Science with focus on privacy
protecting cryptographic systems. Prior to academia he has been
working in Research and Development of IT and Telecommunications
enterprises. Currently he is leading several research and
development projects on design and implementation of trustworthy
computing platforms based on trusted computing technology as well on
design of various cryptographic systems. His
research interests include security architectures, Trusted
Computing, privacy enhancing technologies, and design of
cryptographic protocols.
Richard Brown, HP Labs
Biography:
As the Department Manager
within the Trusted Systems Laboratory, Richard Brown is responsible
for shaping the lab’s technology agenda and leading a team of IT
security specialists at HP Labs in Bristol. The
technology expertise of the team is very broad covering many aspects
of IT security. Over the last few years the Richard has led the
research on innovative security solutions such as Virus Throttling
and Active Countermeasures, designed to protect against the
increasingly changing threat landscape. More recently he is leading
his team in the area of Trusted Infrastructure and Virtualization
technologies.
Richard joined HP Labs in 1987, and has worked across a range of
technologies prior to focusing on security including network
management for LANs/WANs and monitoring and surveillance
technologies for telecommunications networks. Before joining
HP Labs, Richard worked as a software engineer at GEC developing
network protocols such as X25.
Richard received First Class
Honors Degree in Mathematics and Computer Sciences from The
University of Birmingham.
Dr Hisanori Mishima of Hitachi will give a talk representing the
